Tauil & Chequer Advogados in association with Mayer Brown, together with Mayer Brown in the United States, advised Techniplas—a global leader in advanced plastic solutions for the automotive industry—on the sale of its Brazilian subsidiary, Techniplas Brazil, to CIE Automotive, a major international automotive supplier. The transaction, valued at approximately EUR 65 million (BRL 415 million), is subject to approval by the Administrative Council for Economic Defence (CADE).

Techniplas Brazil, based in Piracicaba, specializes in producing complex plastic components, including decorative and functional parts, using advanced injection, bi-injection, painting, and assembly processes. The company employs around 600 people and generated revenue of approximately EUR 50 million (BRL 319 million) in 2024.

This sale is part of Techniplas’s strategy to optimize its global operations and focus on key markets and technologies. The transaction will enable Techniplas to strengthen its position in core regions and invest further in innovation and growth.

For CIE Automotive, acquiring Techniplas Brazil enhances its technological capabilities and expands its presence in the Brazilian automotive market. The integration will reinforce CIE Automotive’s relationships with major Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and support continued growth in the region.

The transaction was led in Brazil by partner Christian Roschmann from the Corporate and Mergers & Acquisitions practice, and in the United States by partner Phil Brandes from Mayer Brown’s Corporate and Mergers & Acquisitions practice. The Brazilian team also included partners Lilian Toscani (Corporate and Mergers & Acquisitions) and Giampaolo Marzulli (Tax), counsel Isabella Giorgi (Antitrust and Competition), and associates Stefano Braga, André Pini (Corporate and Mergers & Acquisitions) and Mariana Iecker (Tax). Don Irwin, an associate from Mayer Brown’s Corporate and Mergers & Acquisitions practice, also contributed to the transaction.
