Tauil & Chequer Advogados advises DC Brazil 1 Fund on the acquisition of a property from Meriti Investimentos for BRL 224.6 million

Tauil & Chequer Advogados in association with Mayer Brown advised the real estate investment fund DC Brazil 1 on the acquisition of a property owned by Meriti Investimentos Imobiliários, part of the Scala Data Centers Group, located in São João de Meriti, Rio de Janeiro.

The transaction, valued at BRL 224.6 million, was structured as a Sale-Leaseback, a modality in which the real estate asset is sold and subsequently leased back to the former owner.

This acquisition marks the increasing presence of Alianza (manager of the REIT), in partnership with Singapore’s sovereign fund GIC, in the real estate sector focused on data centers. Scala Data Centers is a leading company in sustainable data centers, focused on meeting the growing demand for digital connectivity. Scala is backed by DigitalBridge and has investors such as the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Olayan Group.

The transaction was led by partner José Paulo Marzagão and counsel Jessica Nunes de Queiroz, with the participation of associate Juliana Abreu, all from the Real Estate Transactions and Investments practice.
