On March 17, 2021, the Brazilian House of Representatives approved the main text of the Bill of Law No. 4,476/2020 (“New Brazilian Gas Law”), rejecting all of the bill amendments proposed by the Brazilian Federal Senate. The next step for the enactment of the New Brazilian Gas Law is its sanction by the Brazilian Presidency.

After the expected presidential sanction of the New Brazilian Gas Law, concluding its enactment, it will be important to closely follow the regulatory agenda of the Ministry of Mining and Energy (MME) and ANP, since a decree regulating the New Brazilian Gas Law is expected within the next few months. In addition, ANP’s regulatory agenda already includes significant new ordinances related to the New Brazilian Gas Law.
